Activities


There are a wide variety of activities for members to participate in. Board and card games, movies, bingo, surfing the net, barbeques, getting your hair cut, manicures for the ladies, crafts, or baking are some of the more popular activities. We celebrate most of the major holidays with a dinner and dance party. Many activities are scheduled outside of our drop-in. NEW! WE now offer computer training or help with your resume, free of charge to all members.

Topic 1:
Haircut / Manicures

  • Give yourself a new look in our Haircut and Manicure session.
  • Cost $3.00

  • Every Saturday 12:00 - 4:00 pm

Arts & Crafts

  • Exploring your artistic side in our arts and craft session.
  • You may have a hidden talent !!!
  • Painting, Knitting, Sewing, Clothing Repair and Alteration.

Computer Training
  • Free of charge
  • Computer Basics I, Microsoft Word Basics I, Internet, Saving Files Online, Computer Basics II, Winzip, Email- Yahoo, Winway Resume, Microsoft Word Basics II, Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Excel Basics, Powerpoint Basics.
  • Before picking a course, ensure you know all the skills that are left of the course.
  • Sign a course on the form attached on the bulletin board at A.P.P.L.E.

Bingo Nights
  • Join your fellow members in a fun packed, non competitive environment.

Movie Nights

  • Watch the new releases also the golden oldies.

Outing Activities

  • Many activities are scheduled outside of our drop-in especially during the nicer weather.
  • Last year some of the things we participated in were camping, sail boating, picnics, movies, and sporting events ie. Ottawa Renegades football, Ottawa Senators, and 67' hockey games.
  • APPLE organizes activities such as bowling, billiards, picnics, games tournaments, go-carting and even out of town trips to places such as a sugar bush or Upper Canada Village.
  • Most events are free or of nominal charge for our members.
Topic 7
Holiday Parties

  • We celebrate most of the major holidays with a dinner and dance party.
  • Our annual Halloween and Christmas party is well attended and popular with our members.
Topic 8
Refreshments

  • Coffee, tea and light meals are served at the drop-ins.
  • Volunteers get together and plan and cook special meals served at cost (Usually no more than $2).
  • During the summer we have a few barbecues, too.
